Little Light of Mine Church Offering

Little Light of Mine Church Offering

Methodist Children’s Homes has phased out of apportionments from the Mississippi Conference of the United Methodist Church.

We need your help to promote and educate your congregation about the children’s home and the October Special Offering. 100% of the money collected from the Special Offering will fund our programs helping children and families. If your church can not take up a special offering on October 20th, you are welcome to participate in Little Light of Mine any time during November or December.

These are optional paragraphs to add to your church bulletin leading up to the day of the special offering.

Option 1:
How your voice changes lives…
Because you share stories about the Children’s Homes, you are impacting the lives of over 100 children each year. Your voice is making a difference, and you are responsible for bringing awareness to the needs of children in your community. Because of your voice, you are helping youth like Tristyn, who struggled with medical needs and healing from abuse and neglect. Your support helped her finish her first year of college. You helped her get the therapy she needed to build a better relationship with her family.

Option 2:
How your prayers changes lives…
We believe in the Power of Prayer. Because you radically pray for the children at the Methodist Children’s Homes, MCH is given opportunities to share Gods love with our kids like Brooke. She was angry at God for allowing her family to abuse her but because of your prayers she has now forgiven her family and accepted Christ as her Savior.

Option 3:
How your support changes lives… Because you financially support the Methodist Children’s Homes, infants like Ariel, who was placed in foster care with significant medical needs, are able to get the help they desperately need. After years of dialysis, Ariel finally received a kidney transplant and is now a thriving four-year-old who has a forever home with her mom, Terry.

Option 4:
General Information... For over 120 years, Methodist Children’s Homes has cared for over 11,000 children. Methodist Children’s Homes believes every child deserves to grow up in a place where they are safe and nurtured with compassion. At MCH abused and neglected children are given a safe place in which they can heal and thrive through provision, guidance and counseling. MCH seeks to bring restoration to children and youth who have been neglected or abused. By the end of their time with MCH, we hope to see each child find reconciliation with their biological families, love within an adoptive family or success as a productive, independent adult. This is accomplished by offering safe, structured and supportive home environments, life skills training and therapeutic services. You can heal with your prayers, resources and time.

Back To School: Helping Matt Succeed

As we talked with our children about going to school in August, we were once again reminded how different it is to be a foster kid, a group home foster kid, when you go to school. One young man’s comments really made us think.
